Perfect Picnic
Our amazing competition winners for The Perfect Picnic 2015 were…
- Luss Primary School
- Kilfinan Community Forest Teddy Bear Picnic
- Drumlemble Primary School
- Artmap Argyll
- 1st Helensburgh Scout Group
- Fyne Families Holiday Club
- Star Bursts Toddlers
- Friends of Oban Community Play Park
- Glenfinart Walled Garden
All entries were totally different but equally fabulous ideas on how to make their picnic in Argyll just that little bit more perfect!
Luss Primary School
The children of Luss Primary sent us several photos of the school grounds that the children had taken themselves. After being told they had won the school said they are making a list of the things they want and we will try and make the improvements during our forthcoming Eco Week.
Kilfinan Community Forest Teddy Bear Picnic
Kilfinan Community Forest had a Teddy Bear Picnic. They decided they would spend their prize money on fixing the picnic table and a wee shelter in case the rain resumes to "normal West coast" service!
Drumlemble Primary School
All the children from Pre 5 to P7 at Drumlemble Primary School were there for their Perfect Picnic! They went to Machrihanish beach and invited their mums and dads to come too. They made sandcastles, had a scavenger hunt and even dug for treasure! The children thought It would have been just lovely if it wasn’t so windy so decided on buying windbreaks with their prize money and then it would be perfect!
Artmap Argyll
A group of artists from Artmap Argyll braved the midgies and had a picnic in a favourite spot in the Blarbuie Woodland in Lochgilphead. This amazing natural space would be vastly improved - it was decided. The £100 prize will fund the installation of a series of bat boxes encouraging colonies of bats to inhabit the space and provide them with their very own Perfect (Midge) Picnic!
1st Helensburgh Scout Group
Leaders have their picnic at the site having arrived by Kayak. If the 1st Helensburgh Scout Group won (and they do have one of the most beautiful picnic/camp sites in Argyll) we would put it towards a composting toilet to make the site even more perfect.
Fyne Families Holiday Club
Fyne Families holiday club enjoyed ice cream in the sunshine at Lochgilphead Community Centre. They said they would spend £100 on a seesaw and strawberries!
Star Bursts Toddlers
Star Bursts Toddlers love having fun on a Tuesday morning. With their prize money they plan to buy some baby toys & attract some babies to their group and maybe get a new table so we don't have to clear away our play dough if they decide they don't want a picnic style snack.!
Friends of Oban Community Play Park
Here are some of Friends of Oban Community Playpark having their Perfect Picnic and figuring out how to cheer up their old playpark. The old playpark was removed in Feb 2014. Friends of Oban put their prize towards compost for wooden planters to bring back some colour and life and encourage people to use it for picnics and fun!
Glenfinart Walled Garden
The sun was shining for Glenfinart Walled Garden who had a community picnic. Folk brought along their own delicious picnics and there was live music from an eclectic mix of folk to rock and traditional. Glenfinart Walled Garden are putting the money they won towards recycling bins.
