We are working with groups across the area and our advisors in FCS and SNH to come up with an effective and strategic approach to Rhododendron Ponticum management.  Following our own event in May at Glen Creran when we had discussion and demonstrations of stem injection (attached info sheet from Peter Jackson), lever and mulch and cut and burn techniques, we took part in Colintraive and Glendaruel Development Trust’s  “From Invader to Woodfuel” day in October 2014.

Looking ahead we plan to progress the work undertaken at Glen Creran and establish a number of additional sites to start control programmes.   We hope to be able to work with volunteers and communities across the range of sites where Rhododendron Ponticum has taken hold.  Funding bids and detailed proposals are currently being prepared and we hope to have some firm plans in place by later in 2015.  This is a key priority for ACT, and we're keen to hear from you if you'd like to get involved.
