With five completed programmes under our belts, two halfway through and more scheduled, we have built up demand for our Moving On programmes.
Our third sector and community woodland partners are taking the initiative and - to capitalise on the obvious benefits of Branching Out for the participants - are keen to provide follow-on activities so that the momentum is maintained.
There are subtle but important differences that underline the sense of 'moving on' from the greater levels of support offered during Branching Out. The participants may spend longer periods of time on larger projects rather than completing different woodland activities every week. In the case of one group the task has been to build an Iron Age roundhouse with the idea that the group will create something fairly demanding that will remain in the forest as a legacy they can be proud of and revisit for a long time.
The outcome being to sustain the improved mental health of participants, the groups will be less supported and encouraged to lead on decision-making.
ACT would be very interested to hear from any group or partner with an idea for Moving On so please get in touch!
